Obituary of Edward Padula

Padula, Edward F. Sr. age 88 passed away at home, on July 16, 2017. Edward was born in Paterson on March 27, 1929, to James and Julia (nee Hermanowski) Padula. He married his wife Florence Kuhn on May 14, 1949. They settled down and raised their family in the Stoney Road section of Paterson, later moving to the Hillcrest section where he lived until his passing. Edward was a N.J. State licensed plumber & steamfitter for Local # 49, Paterson, where for many years he served as their business agent. He later worked as plumbing maintenance at Passaic County Technical & Vocational High School, Wayne until his retirement. He served as the Park Commissioner for the city of Paterson, where he was instrumental in having a statue of Alexander Hamilton erected at the historic Great Falls. Mr. Padula was an avid sports fan, playing football and coaching in his young adult years. His favorite team was the Cleveland Browns. He enjoyed his coin and baseball card collections and following politics. Cherished time spent with his family and friends was the foundation of his life. Edward was pre deceased by his wife of sixty four years, Florence (nee Kuhn) Padula (2013). He was also pre deceased by his parents and brother Joseph (1966) and his twin brother James (1971). Surviving relatives include his seven children: Nancy (nee Padula) Reed of Totowa, Lynne Padula and Julia Padula, both of Paterson, Diane Romano and her husband David of Jefferson Twsp., Edward Padula Jr. and Kenneth Padula, both of Paterson and Michael Padula and his wife Lorraine of Little Falls. He was father in law of the late Ray Reed (2013). He was the cherished grandfather of Stephanie Reed, David Reed, Michael Padula, Brittany Padula and Nicolette Romano. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral from the Festa Memorial Funeral Home, 111 Union Blvd., Totowa on Friday at 9:30 AM. Funeral Mass to follow at St. Gerard R.C. Church, Paterson at 10:00 AM. Interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Totowa. Friends may visit on Thursday from 4:00-8:00 PM.
